The lotus flower has many symbolic meanings but I associate it most closely with the phoenix. As the phoenix rises from the ashes, the lotus rises from the muck of unthinkable pain, sacrifice, or challenge. Instead of the fiery hot power exuded by the phoenix, the lotus exudes a cool, fluid energy and a vulnerability present in its tender petals. The lotus has come to full bloom under a moon lit sky. A moment of fulfillment in the quiet of night.
